Mobility for Africa (MfA) is such an incredible business. We were really excited about working with Shantha, the business founder, because she is making a significant and direct impact in the lives of rural women in Zimbabwe.

The business model is shared mobility and renewable energy. They provide EV trikes (dubbed ‘Hamba’) and a Lithium- Ion battery (recharged at their solar container hotspots) to women. The Hambas have enabled rural women to increase the amount of produce they can take to market and reduce the amount of time it takes.

They have also enabled health-care workers to access remote villages for vaccines and maternal check-ups. Of all the projects we’ve ever worked on, this has been one of the most striking cause and effect examples of women empowerment.
